Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about switching to Certa's natural toothbrushes.
What are Certa toothbrush bristles made of? +
Certa toothbrushes use 100% natural bristles made from either horse hair or boar hair, paired with a smooth bamboo handle. We do not use nylon or plastic bristles.
Are natural bristle toothbrushes hygienic? +
Yes, when cared for properly. Natural bristles and bamboo handles remain hygienic when you rinse them thoroughly after each use, allow them to air-dry upright, and avoid storing them in closed or damp containers.
How long does a natural bristle toothbrush last? +
We recommend replacing your toothbrush every 2–3 months, or earlier if the bristles begin to fray. This helps maintain effective plaque removal and optimal oral hygiene.
How should I care for my Certa toothbrush? +
Rinse the bristles well after brushing, shake off excess water, and store the brush upright in an open holder to dry completely. Avoid soaking the toothbrush in boiling water, as this may damage the bristles and handle.
Is this toothbrush suitable for sensitive gums? +
Many people with sensitive gums find natural bristles softer and less abrasive than synthetic bristles. If you have gum disease, pain, or ongoing sensitivity, it’s best to ask your dentist for personalised advice.
Are natural bristle toothbrushes vegan or halal? +
Natural bristle toothbrushes are not vegan, whether made from boar or horse hair. Boar-bristle brushes are not halal. Customers who prefer halal options can choose the horse-bristle toothbrush.
